Guess Who's Walking???
Cooper took his first (unassisted) steps today!
He is almost 10.5 months old.
It snowed at our house today. We got about 1-2" of snow. Caden and Daddy made a snowman and Caden played out in the snow until he "couldn't feel his nose". Cooper had the right idea and stayed inside napping most of the day. We'll post some pictures of the snow when Blogger lets us upload photos...

10 months old
Guess what? No one in the Virant house is sick! Can you believe it??? I'll regret writing that...

Cooper is 10 months old today. He's weighing in at a dainty 25 lbs.
He is standing up on his own and trying to walk. We are not encouraging it at all.
He talks all the time. DADA is still his favorite word.
Caden is playing tennis and he has his first match on Thursday. He's very excited about getting to count the "Loves" - Love-15, Love-30, Love-40...

9 months old
Cooper turned 9 months old on January 18th.
He had bronchitis on his birthday and we didn't think you'd like to see a picture of him with his runny nose and tear stained face.
So instead here is a picture of Cooper at 9 months and 4 days old.
We went to the doctor and he weighs 23 lb 2 oz and is 29 1/4" long. Dr. Karlen said that he was "a little overweight". Really???
Thank you Gigi and Honey for coming and helping at the "Typhoid Mary" house. Everyone here had bronchitis last week and this week. It was not a fun place to be.
We are all on the mend now and Caden is looking forward to a birthday party this weekend where we are sure he will pick up some new germs and bring them home to us all again.

Happy New Year
Yes, we are running a few days late with our Happy New Year post.
So far we've gotten off to a good start in 2009.
Caden is taking tennis lessons at school and loves it. He's also doing a Science class and a Music class. He is excited about both of those. He is reading books and writing short sentences. He's in love with his Star Wars games and his Wii (or the Spawn of Satan as Mommy refers to it).
Cooper is SLEEPING 12 HOURS AT NIGHT!!!!! The ear tubes (or what we like to call "wonder tubes") have helped him so much and he hasn't been sick at all since he had them put in. He's trying to crawl and pull up on tables, chairs, people... He loves to wave and clap and laugh. He is so much fun to be around.
Daddy still works at Oracle - and that is saying something after this week's layoffs. He is still a Product Manager in the Retail Group.
Mommy does not work at Oracle anymore - see comment above for reason why... Mommy is now the President of Domestic Duties and Dispute Resolutions at the Virant household.
We hope that you all had a Happy New Year!!!

8 months old
He can clap and wave. He can do baby sign language for "more" and "all done".
He says Dada, Mama, Ada, and Yes (according to Daddy and Ms. Kayla).
Cooper is supposed to have surgery for ear tubes on Tuesday, Dec 23. Please keep him in your prayers. We are praying that it will be quick and painless and that he will be his happy self soon after surgery.
Caden had his Christmas program at school this week. He sang every word of every song. It was adorable. Can you find him in this picture?

We hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

7 months old and 53 months old
We didn't take a picture or post yesterday because, big surprise, we were at the doctor with a double ear infection. So here is a picture of Cooper at 7 months and 1 day old.
He is MUCH better today. He had a shot of rocephin and we are going to see an ENT on Friday.
At 7 months old, Cooper likes to eat everything especially "Saturday morning pancakes". He babbles all the time and can say "Ada" now. We think that means "Caden" because he says it when Caden is around or when he's trying to get Caden's attention. He can sit up by himself and he can roll over both ways. We think he is going to skip crawling and go straight to walking any day now. He is getting his first tooth as well.
Caden was 53 months old on the 17th. When Caden realized it was Cooper's birthday this week he asked how many "months old" he was. We told him 53 months so he wanted his 53 month birthday posted on the blog too. Thank God he isn't an only child anymore...
At 53 months old, Caden doesn't EVER stop talking, loves to play baseball, soccer, football and tennis and likes to watch ESPN with Daddy. He loves his 4 year preschool class, where a friend has introduced him to the concept of "guns". We here at home are extremely thrilled that he knows about guns now - ugh!
We are so blessed to have such a happy baby (even when he's been sick for the last 6 weeks) and an outgoing, gun-loving 4 year old.
